Thanks for stopping the platooning of freshmen guards. Thanks for giving Colt a few more minutes. He deserves more. Thanks for the extra emphasis on running more sets for Hoffarber. Thanks for the timely switches to zone out of time outs.. very good.

Can't say how much I loved seeing Maverick, Austin and Chip all play, but not at the same time.

Hopefully Mav, Austin and Chip get more playing time against Iowa

Gophers have 3 guards who are subs. All are freshmen. Sometimes they'll play together. Other times, not.

When they play together, the success rate is low.

Other times, when not playing together, not.

That's simply not accurate. The Gophers lost by 3 on the road to the #1 team in the nation with 3 freshmen guards playing (at times).

Tubby had excellent success in 2005 playing 2 or 3 freshmen guards together and sometimes in 2001 (2 frosh guards) also.

It's not ideal, but the three have played together and been productive as well. Didn't they play together in Puerto Rico?

Tubby made some nice adjustments. The offense and defense looked better because of it. Better tempo for this squad until the last 5 minutes- I still don't like this squad in slowdown mode even when nursing a slight lead. Maybe with under a minute.... I'm not sure if the slowdown was on the players or on Tubby but overall I thought it was a very well coached game.

Is it just me or did tubby have the guys push the tempo more this game? Got down the court and into the offense quickly, not nearly as much standing around. Loved it

Tempo

According to Pomeroy, http://kenpom.com/gameplan.php?team=Minnesota, the Purdue game matched their lowest possession total of the year at 58 (other game was at Wisc). Clearly there were more possesions in the first half than in the second.

More importantly, it was their most efficient offensive game of the year, thanks mostly to Hoffarber's shooting.
