Fresno State coach Jeff Tedford is expected to step down at a Friday morning press conference due to health concerns.

Tedford, 58, led the Bulldogs to 10-4 and 12-2 records with a Mountain West Conference championship and bowl victories in his first two seasons before going 4-8 this season with five losses decided by eight points or fewer.

He is the first coach in history to lead a team from double-digit losses in one season (Fresno State went 1-11 in 2016 just prior to Tedford’s arrival) to double-digit victories in the next two.

Thought this might be relevant since they gave us two pretty nice non-conf games the past two years.

Also semi-interesting is that one name coming up as a replacement candidate is their former OC, now the OC at Indiana, who was previously the HC at NAIA powerhouse U of Sioux Falls, Kalen DeBoer.

Having to step down after just 3 seasons and only 58 years old is pretty disappointing. Hopefully they can bounce back with a new coach as a program, and Tedford can get his health issues taken care of away from football.

Wow. Thats too bad. I enjoyed both of those games a lot.

That's a shame, he had the program on a good track. They had a down year, but it came after a lot of talented graduated. Plus, the team had injuries and they had some real heartbreakers this year that kept them out of a bowl.

This is a surprise, Tedford is a damn fine football coach although maybe he decided it is time to retire and enjoy life a little bit.

That's sad. I was proud to say I thought that was a great hire (he represents Cal's only relevance in recent history).

Wish him the best.

He has heart issues and this season put a lot of stress on him, no doubt.

Good for him on trying to get his health in order. I agree he's a good coach!

Just like Jerry Kill did, I hope...not.

That might be a big blow to the Hoosiers, unless it was Allen who was really responsible for the offense.

This guy's had a heck of a run
