On Twitter today a GopherHole poster tweeted Teague about the importance of changing the gameday experience at Minnesota. Teague's response:

"Cannot agree more! This will be a HUGE push in the off season, promise!!!"

It will be interesting to see what Teague comes up with.

Go Gophers!!

Free beer for every person who brings an extra guest.

How about winning more Big Ten games then Jeff Horton did in his five game season? That would be a BIG improvement in the Gameday experience.

One big potential improvement: They need to open up the lots around the stadium for game day parking. Even if it's $50 per spot, they'll probably still sell season passes with donations from people who want to guarantee themselves a close spot but by having game day (most of these people are already forking over the donation for premium seating and the same donation counts for both), but if they have game day available they'll get more people parking and tailgating closer to the bank.

I also think they have the block party or whatever it is on the wrong side of the stadium for the future. They should have it on the closed side near the light rail station. Bring in food trucks and beer sales so that the people getting off light rail can arrive early and enjoy a good time before the game.

What to do about the student section? I'm not sure. I think the problem with the student section is part of a larger issue with the current student body of the U. The U has successfully raised the academic profile of its undergraduates (a good thing of course), but it seems it has also found a group of people who are less interested in sports as a whole. Student sections in hockey and basketball have also been disappointing in recent years and while hockey has been pretty decent this year, it SHOULD be rocking every night given how good the team is and so far this year it's been a mixed bag. I'm not saying the students shouldn't be focused on school and other activities as well, but they need to know it's okay to take some time away and go have fun and support their teams.

I agree. I understand why they let the fat cats have the lots, but at least a portion of those lots needs to be a more rowdy tailgating experience. It sucks to walk from Stadium Village where there is a festive atmosphere through the lots which are like a dead zone of fan apathy.

I talked to Mr. Diem about this. He said there could be merit into having the band move the pre-game to that area.

An offense that can gain over 95 yards would dramatically improve the game day experience.

No need to aim too high here. Just having a 'game day experience' for fans next year would be a huge step forward.

Open up spots near the stadium for first come first serve. Also, don't ever go three consecutive seasons with a 25% conference winning percentage again.
