I am pretty thrilled by this hire too. Excited for things to get going!
 

Highly unlikely but maybe... Teague low balled all the "short list" people including Flip (to appease the Gopher nation) and then bam (when we're all desperate for anyone), went with what he really wanted. An up and coming coach that will save the Gophers and save money! Ya never know.

Billy 2006: Hi Woody. I think you should sign-up Anthony Grant.
Woody 2006: Thanks Billy!

Woody 2009: Hey Billy, remember that Grant guy I hired off your staff? He took another job. You don't happen to have another extra assistant ... do you?
Billy 2009: Hi Woody, you bet. I got a guy named Shaka for you.

Woody 2013: Hey Billy, I'm up in Minnesota right now. We just fired Tubby. Yeah, really, right after you guys beat his pants off. Anyway, I kinda need another head coach up here. Haven't had much luck with finding a guy with a well known name. I was just wondering if you happened to have another assistant.
Billy 2013: You know, I just had a guy working for me last year and he had NAME recognition too. Remember that guy I played for in college and worked for as an assistant? He's got this kid that's just breaking in as a D-1 coach ... Rich Pitino. Yes, that's P-I-T-I-N-O. Give him a call over at FIU.
