Pretty funny

Nice. I was wondering why they had that billboard up in Columbus. Then I remembered who essentially made fun of the 'Little Sisters of the Poor' conferences.

And on a side note.. That comment didn't bug me all that much. I don't have anything against the non-BCS conference teams, but it IS true they play much weaker schedules. My problem with the BCS conference schools is they refuse to schedule the TCU's and Boise State's of the college football world. It bugs me that these ADs for the BCS conferences make fun of the 'Little Sisters of the Poor' conferences but don't schedule said teams. It's like seeing the school yard bully refusing to fight with the kid who they'd rather make fun of from a distance.. Aggravating.

Agreed, and if they refuse to play them they shouldn't mouth off.

False.

Nebraska tried to schedule a 2-for-1 with Boise State but BSU wouldn't agree to anything but a 1-for-1. I'm sorry Boise but you have to know who you are. You may be able to play with Nebraska and beat them on the field but the economics of the situation (85,000 seat stadium vs. 33,500 seat stadium) dictate that Nebraska has to do it as a 2-for-1. Don't give me this crap that big boys are avoiding them. Economically Boise is not in a position to dictate terms and then have their fans cry about teams avoiding them.

TCU plays about 2 BCS schools a year and schedules 2 cupcakes for the other ooc games. Oklahoma beat them 35-10 in 2008. Since then TCU has played Virginia, Stanford, Clemson, Baylor and Oregon State off the top of my head. Big Ten teams get ripped on for scheduling teams like Idaho, Wyoming, etc. When those teams are on your conference schedule you shouldn't be playing teams like Stephen F. Austin in the ooc if you want to compete for a national title.

grunkie...I agree with everything you just typed...maybe there is hope for you after all.;)

TCU (barely) beat Wisconsin at a neutral site. An nice win. Congrats.

But if anyone thinks they could follow that up this week with a win over Iowa, and then a win over Penn State next week then they're just delusional. This is the best TCU team ever (even when cheating was rampant in the SWC) and they still would likely have lost if they had to play at OSU in October. I can't even imagine what Oregon or Auburn would do to them. And this is why they will never agree to play the big dogs, and this billboard comes across as nothing more than the bitchy whining that it is.

Bump up the AQ criteria and get the Big East and ACC the hell out-of-here. Chumps are ruining this sport. TCU's schedule actually gets easier when they move to the Big Least in 2012; and I'm sure that's exactly what they wanted.

Actually, TCU would have won the Big Ten in 2010.

See - I, too, can make baseless comments that cannot be proven or disproven.

I think they could have won the NFC West and possibly the AFC Central.

On a serious note. TCU and Boise have tough decisions to make in terms of scheduling. They need teams from a good conference they can beat, but dearly cannot afford a loss. That is the main reason why they will shy away from playing higher profile teams than they currently do. I don't know their schedules but would be suprised to see a tougher team on their schedule than Virginia Tech this year. That was a game with Boise State that either team could have won (but Boise State did). It was a good win for their program, but if they lose that game their chance of making a BCS bowl is over after the first game of the season. THey play those games with much more desperation than their opponent. Look at VT. THey lost that game, then to a FCS team but still managed to make a BCS game.

With some subtle rules changes, I think TCU could've won both the World Cup and the WNBA this year.

Disagree. The politics of college football are nothing compared to FIFA. However I think they should get a shot at the Superbowl Champs the day after the Superbowl. If only we could find an eccentric billionaire in Dallas to organize it. I think the logistics from a travel standpoint would be minimal.

Gary Patterson has Sepp Blatter in his back pocket.

Sepp Blatter is stealing his wallet? I wouldn't think there was enough money in it to interest Mr. Blatter, but Qatar does need to air condition those stadiums.

Dear Lord, I've inadvertently turned this into a soccer thread. Let's get back to talking about how much TCU sucks and how every college football conference except the Big Ten and SEC should be playing women's water polo.

Sepp Blatter thinks they should settle for being stay at home non-moms.

Along those lines, TCU could have won the AL Central and Conn Smythe Trophy this year.

I remember that whole Nebraska/Boise State thing a bit differently. I'll have to go look it up now, but I remember Nebraska refusing to schedule BSU or backing out. Also recall BSU's AD commenting on how he's tried on more than one occasion to get more BCS opponents but to no avail.

I could be wrong, but for some reason that is what I recall.

Boise St. would like everyone to 'remember' as you do.

Be careful about False Memory Syndrome...Boise St. really would rather beat up on the Li'l Sisters and pretend the heavyweights are afraid to play Boise St.

I love this billboard! props to whichever tcu fan that did this

All of these are pretty similar in their content. Nebraska offered 2-for-1 amongst other options. Boise balked because they think they're different than other non-AQ's and they're worth a 1-for-1. Boise asked for $1 million guaranteed for 1 game @ NU. Nebraska said no because other non-AQ schools will play there for $600k-$800k and Nebraska will sell out regardless of opponent.

I'll agree with Boise that they're better than other non-AQ's but their stadium still only seats 33,500 so they aren't in a position to dictate terms to elite BCS schools. And most importantly, when you ask for better terms than other teams get you can't complain that teams won't play you.

Yes, that is a baseless comment. But that's exactly what the billboard insinuated.

Not everything can be "proven". But one doesn't have to follow the game very closely to realize that TCU wouldn't have been unbeaten in the Big Ten when they struggled to be Wisconsin in a very favorable environment.

A nice win to be sure. But that's it. Beating Wisconsin doesn't change the fact that most of the programs TCU plays hemmorage money and are therefore much easier to amass wins against. And that was the point of Gee's comment. So all the billboard does is give people who don't have any understanding of the issue a cheap giggle.

Boise State needs games against BCS teams more than other teams need to play them. The BCS teams hold the cards. Maybe if they were to get rid of that abomination of a turf first...
