I hate all of the stupid little nicknames we as Minnesotans appear to be obsessed with for our sports teams. I just never have gotten the popularity of these:

ViQueens
Queens
Twinkies
Timberpuppies
Goofers
Goofs
Mild

Do other cities do this as much as we do? My dad grew up in Chicago and still calls the Cubs "Cubbies" but I can't think of a lot of other examples. He doesn't call the bears the "Teddies" for example. Remember, I'm not talking about nicknames that have just been shortened - like Mavs instead of Mavericks, or Caps instead of Capitals. I'm talking about these diseased, cutsie atrocities that we seem to invent and be proud of in Minnesota. Hate them all.
