There is something I see in Tanner that leads me to believe he will be a great coach after his playing days. His head is on straight, very composed, very intelligent. Always learning. Sees more than only QB-he also looks at what the defense is doing along with special teams.

Just a feeling, but I think if Tanner does not go pro, he will jump directly into PJ's coaching tree after graduation/end of eligibility if he graduates early. If he does go pro, that will only increase his knowledge and experience (same with Coach Fleck). Having experience as pro player is very valuable. Does not need to be an all star, but learn from the next level.

Although he may not want to be around football when he's done,
if he wants to go that route, I see him being very successful.

Thoughts?

I was thinking ZA will become a coach some day.
Tanner would need to work up through some other coaches to discover his own coaching style.
He's a Fleck clone right now which is good under Fleck, but he would need to become his own self and his own style from learning from other HC's.

I don’t know about Tanner, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see Rodney Smith on the coaching staff (or some other staff) at some point.

We have said this about almost all of our QBs at some point. I do agree that he has a great head for the game at an early stage of his career!

I think that is how basically every coach does it. You don’t typically graduate college and get a head coaching job.
