Tanner Morgan graduates undergrad with an HR degree, begins Master's at the U

Pretty good young man. So he came in early (January 2017 enrollment) and had 7 "true" semesters. Then what, 3 summers of 1 course each? Do they do that these days? Have the players stay on campus and take one course over the summer?

Any way you slice it up, great job Tanner! Go ahead and give yourself a light load this fall while you start your masters...and the following fall. You'd hate to leave the glory of college early to start your HR career

Congrats to a very fine young man indeed!

He is the poster boy for Gopher Football. We are very blessed to have him on the team.

He epitomizes the value of a red shirt year, of enrolling early, of hard work and dedication, and of patience and perseverance.

He matured and continues to grow under a system that molds fine young men into leaders.

He selflessly placed the interest of the team above his, and in giving of oneself to help others. This quality is very much needed today with all the calamities around us.

Someday, we can all be even more proud when we hear from all the former Gopher players who make a difference in society. People like Tony Dungy and Darrell Thompson.

When players lead, you win more often than not. This is true on the playing field and in life.

Kudos to the Gophers coaching staff and Gopher Athletics! Minnesota Football is a training ground for leaders.

Honestly it's a little crazy that he was a Mac recruit we came big-time star at Minnesota.

He also could have had some AP credits from high school that qualified and reduced his college coursework requirements. Regardless, am proud that he and I will be fellow alums someday! Congrats!

That's how it should be done, in my opinion. When you have five calendar years under full scholarship, plus summers, and an extra spring, if you want it ..... there really is no excuse not to walk out of there with a master's. My opinion

Depends on what you're going into.

I think if you're a football player there educational paths are just too hard to along with the time comittments that come with being a football player, unless you're already an EXCEPTIONAL student.

Good point!

Tanner Morgan and a handful of other red shirts can complete their undergrad degree at the end of their junior year.

The rest of the team will get their 4-year degrees unless they decide to transfer. As PJ Fleck has said repeatedly, he is a life coach. Everyone is taken care of.

This is awesome! I like how the SEC has noted graduates on uniforms for a few years and wish the Big Ten did the same.

Good for him. The question might be is 2020 his last year in college football?

If it is, man I can't wait to see the 2020 season...would mean he had a fantastic performance...

If he matches last year's performance then he should probably declare. There are a lot of good QBs in the pipeline, but I think there's a reasonable chance that Minnesota loses him after this season.

I'll bet all the backups are cheering him on.

Leader doing leadership things. Keeping fingers crossed we get to see his offensive machine in action in a short ~ 2 months.
