Tailgating in Ann Arbor-- First Timer--- Any Tips or Tricks to the trade?

I am heading to Ann Arbor this weekend with 10 friends for the Gopher/Michigan game and was wondering on the best spots to tailgate prior to the game.

Any tips or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

There's a few threads you can find on this. I recommend tailgating on the university golf course, stopping in at The Brown Jug, and taking a walk through their beautiful campus.

Tailgated there once back in 2004. We were at the high school kitty-corner from the stadium. It was a good setup but since you are public school property it is technically an alcohol free zone. But if you put your beer in a red solo cup the cops all look the other way.

Get there early.

Honestly, never had a bad time tailgating at Pioneer High School (the HS next to the stadium). Golf course is also supposed to be good.
