Just wondering if he will even be capable of playing again this season, and if a medical redshirt is even a possiblity. Not sure how many games he's played or what the NCAA standard is for a medical redshirt; but Kill might be smart to shut him down for the last 3 games in any event and see what can be done to get a 5th year.

Cue some smarty explaining there is no such thing as a medical redshirt.

To answer the OP's question with two short words...no chance.

Why did we keep on having the same discusions over and over again here?

The rule has been quoted here several times before. I am sure this will do little to stop people going over old ground but here is the rule again. "A special case involves the eligibility of a player who loses the majority of a season to injury. Popularly known as a medical redshirt, a hardship waiver may be granted an athlete who appears in fewer than 30% of his or her team's competitions (with none coming after the midway point of the season), then suffers a season-ending injury. A player who is granted such a waiver is treated for the purposes of their eligibility as though he or she had not competed in that season."

So the answer is no since he doesn't meet the above requirements.

To complete the rule you round up for partial games 12x.30=3.60 so you round up to 4 games. So 4 games or less before the mid point of the season.

The rules are sort of complicated so I don't blame anyone for asking the question on Tommy Olson.

But no, he has played too much this season to get a medical redshirt. Is he done for the year though, did I miss something?

That was my question too. There hasn't been a thread about it and you'd think there would have been if he was done for the season.
