"Behind the Schemes" Thursday night:

Q: Who in the BT makes the best half-time adjustments?

A by Mase: (to my recollection) Iowa. They are the best, but I have to say that this half-time adjustment stuff is way overplayed...

Surprisingly, Glen did not follow-up that comment by discussing his Insight Bowl nightmare.

Way overplayed, huh? It's one of the key elements in coaching a football team - when things aren't working, are you able to make the needed changes to get it working in a short period of time?

Indeed. That's in large part the very reason Mason is sitting on a studio set in Chicago for the BTN and not on the sidelines in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

I saw him say this on a replay Friday morning and nearly fell off my chair laughing. DiNardo should have came back and told him, "I coached against you and I know your 2nd half philosophy, so I know where you stand."

This is kind of classic. I don't want to start a "dump on Mason" thread, but I can think of so many second-half or even late-game collapses during his regime that his comment doesn't surprise me. If there ever was a "try not to lose" over "ensure a win" coach, it was Mason.

Regarding DiNardo, he's kind of vanilla, but I really like him as an analyst. Just goes to show, though, that being a solid football guy doesn't mean you can coach.
