I don't know how you can have survivor's guilt after being on the wrong end of basically all of these types of games for the past 15-20 years. I can't remember one game where the Gophers were down 14 and came back to win, but I sure can recount a dozen or more where they blew 14 point leads. This kind of goes along with the "luck" thread. I look at luck through the course of the game, and not just the last play. Were the Gophers any more lucky that Indiana fumbled late than the Hoosiers were lucky that Engel dropped that deep ball? If Engel catches that ball, it wouldn't have mattered what Indiana did on that last drive. The Gophers badly needed this win, I could easily see losing a 35-13 lead at Indiana becoming a turning point for this program just as Bailey's missed fg and the Mason meltdown vs Michigan as critical moments in the trajectory of the program. Glad to be on the right side of things for once.
I guess I understand the Hoosiers pain, but don't have any guilt. That team was only second to Michigan in terms of talent at the skill positions among Gophers opponents this year, their future is bright.
On a similar topic, I'd feel terrible for Northwestern's season going in the dumps after a heartbreaking home loss in a statement game (again, we've been there), if it wasn't for Northwestern getting unbelievably lucky against the Gophers over the years. I still feel bad for them, but then I remember the hail mary, the pick 6 (Brew's worst moment as coach by far), etc.
