How does a three point specialist that manages to go 2-26 from beyond the three point line manage to continue to get minutes on a D1 basketball team?
I've watched a lot of Gopher basketball over the years. I can't think of a player that has looked worse, that has gained as many or more minutes as Oto this year. However, that is just my opinion. For fun, are there other players you can think of that played as many or more minutes over the years that looked worse?
And, not only have there been missed shots, but how many of these shots have completely missed the rim? It would be interesting to see a youtube montage of all Oto's shots this year within a minute or two. Of 24 missed three pointers how many were airballs? Half?
I guess it is part of what Tubby has done that has lost me. I am often asking myself why is this guy coming in now, or why is that guy being pulled now. Pulling Dre on his fourth foul... yep, I get that. But Pulling Austin at the same time? Seeing Colt 45 deteriorate and his minutes drop during his time here, followed by watching him look engaged, active, confident for Colorado State makes me wonder if this is all connected in a way that leads people to ask if players improve under Tubby. If he is still fiddling with line ups and swinging wildly with playing time in March, I can't imagine how unsettling this would be for a player.
