Lol .. I know there was some sort of a recent flap between KFAN and the Gopherhole .. There's plenty more, just follow the link. For the record I can't stand Barrerio.

The Internet causes fans to show their bad side.

People create unknown names for message boards when it comes to attacking someone. It makes them feel good about themselves since they don't have the guts to tell them personally.

Now, blogs feature personal attacks on athletes and sportswriters in an attempt to get attention. Losers write rubbish under the comments section of a game story or column in the newspapers.

It's hard to get into sports discussion in the World Wide Web when one looks at what's going on these days. Fortunately, we have not gotten to this point at Bleacher Report thanks to the people that operate this site.

Gophers fans like to talk about Gopher Hole as a site for great Gophers discussion, but this Gopher fan begs to differ. The posters act immature and unintelligent whenever they post something at that forum.

Based on an experience over there, those 15 minutes were wasted.

Most of the posts deal with people whining about someone in the Twin Cities media.

It would be nice to read a board that talks about the game or the players instead of fans creating threads about Tubby Smith or Tim Brewster being disrespected by the Twin Cities sportswriters.

For someone who makes his living ripping other people, Barreiro seems to be really thin-skinned when he is criticized.

I find Barrerio to be unlistenable, especially when he delves into topics beyond sports- politics and social issues. He needs to figure out his limitations and discussing matters other than sports is an inappropriate reach comparable to Shaq becoming a 3-point shooting specialist.

That said, there's a lot of truth to what Barrerio and the article say about Minnesota sports fans, especially Gopher fans on this site. The people in this state have a huge inferiority complex and are so bloody insular. To the point that it creates silver lining for me when our team falls apart or when a player/coach decides that they don't like it here, I know be entertained by some classic reactions to criticism that is deserved and calls for local products to be brought in to fix the situation.

Barrerio is one ugly sumbitch. No wonder he's on radio.

Pure garbage. Funny how it doesn't work both ways for these clowns. They can rip with no knowledge, but we can't rip at all.

I don't completely disagree with that blog post; that being said, that person writes with the complexity of a high school freshman.

Oh no. Leslie doesn't like Gopherhole. Maybe Leslie should learn how to write if he/she thinks they are a journalist.

"The behavior by those folks have been reprehensible in recent years." Should be "has", not "have". Dimwit.

"Name one player he developed during his time as the coach." Lee Campbell. Next.

"The Gophers football coach likes to talk about how he can recruit guys from the state of Minnesota yet we haven't see him accomplished his objective." Sam Maresh, Jimmy Gjere, Lamonte Edwards. I can go on, but we'll just start there. Won't even bother with the horrible grammar.

"Gophers football will get their attention when they starting beating their Big 10 rivals along with going to the Rose Bowl. Until then, they ought to accept the caste system the station puts them." What?

"Gophers fans reacted about how Barreiro was whining and how he could not deal with criticism by the fans in light of the rant. They praised themselves by saying that." By saying that what? Finish your sentence.

"Why would a talk-show host go out of his way to promote a site by get-a-life losers?" Excellent question. Have an answer, Leslie? We've been ripping on Reusse here for years, he won't give us the time of day. Maybe Reusse can handle criticism.

"It makes this Bleacher Report embarrassed to be a Minnesota sports fan." Missing a word there, Leslie.

"Maybe Barreiro's rant will make those idiots feel bad about themselves, but don't count on it." We may be idiots, but we can form complete sentences and coherent thoughts. Can you, Leslie?

"Stupidity Takes Place in Gopher Hole" Stupidy takes place in Leslie Monterio's article.

It's amazing why they rally around the beleaguered head coach no matter how bad it gets.
Obviously he didn't get to read everybody's posts in those 15 minutes. I feel like there are a fair amount of people who dislike our beleaguered head coach.

Who wants to hear about Gophers football? They are depressing to talk about.
As opposed to the Vikings? No, the Vikings would never let Minnesota down...

No, Gophers fans. The talk-show host called you out for your stupidity. It has nothing to do with patronizing a lame site... Maybe Barreiro's rant will make those idiots feel bad about themselves, but don't count on it.
Taking shots at our collective intelligence. That's just low. Especially in a column where the average sentence is about 6 words long and he uses the word "lame" to describe us 3 times.

Barreiro is a power tool that loves to hear the sound of his own whiny voice over the concerns and criticisms of real Gopher fans, like us.

I think he's just toying with some of the contributors here and trying to get some mileage out of this.

I love it when folks like this are given the opportunity to show how "Gopherholers are such idiots" only to write something like this. It's great. Especially when they repeat the ballyhooed old "win something and then you'll warrant coverage" line. It's all too predictable and simplistic to even warrant much of a response.

Hilarious! This is one of the most self-absorbed comments I've ever read!
Oh yes - its all I think of!

I think that everyone who posts on here and takes this site seriously has some very valid points about this basketball team. KFAN is a radio station devoted to ripping on people who are deemed to just be homer fans. When the vast majority of us probably know more about the team than they do. KFAN follows every Minnesota sport, and those of us who attend every Gopher basketball game see more of what goes on than the KFAN people would ever know about. I enjoy listening to Barrerio when I'm around the cities because he is sometimes comical. I do however think that he can be very negative against biased fans who call into his show to disagree at what he has to say. Everyone who follows Gopher basketball closely knows a thing or two about the team, and has suggestions as to how the teams problems can be fixed.

Barreiro is.........

one of the least likeable individuals on the planet. This job is temporary, because he will tell someone off and get fired.............again.

That's pretty embarrassing.

90% of everything is stupidity!

Why would anyone from KFAN care about what was being said on a message board. It is a lose/lose situation for them even commenting on it. It is kind of hillarious. I might drop a shovel off for them. They seem to want to continue digging a hole for themselves.
