I choose my seats based on location relating to the whole experience. Close to the students and band, viewing the scoreboard, and the last row in a lower section. So far, the students have delivered despite leaving a few seats open, the band rocks, I have a great view of the scoreboard and the playing field. There is way to much criticism of the student section just because there are a few empty seats. If you have been to as many road games as I have, you would give our student section an A+. I have NEVER seen a 100% capacity student section outside of a couple rival games even at Wisconsin. Let it play out and let the culture develop.
If you must rip somebody as a group, rip the jerks who can't go or won't go and do not give their tickets to someone who would like to go.

I'm with you on this one. I sit next to the student section and the kids who fill the lower level are far and away more into it than many.

My little brother usually doesn't get in on time and has to sit in the 2nd deck. He has said its tough to hear the band, but that there is a lot more skulldugery going on and he enjoys that atmosphere.

I think the U will learn from this year and oversell the student section because the kids really cram themselves into the lower level. And once the students get a few really fun games under their belt the student section will really be the strong point of the stadium.

the students that showed up yesterday were awesome, as they've been for all home games this year. hopefully the 35% of them that decided homecoming wasn't a good excuse to put the tiks to use have a change of heart in the future. I feel the culture will change, it will just take a little time

I was impressed with the noise yesterday created from a student section that was maybe 3/4 full. The students that showed up were obviously ones who really are into the team and not just there for the big games with nice weather.

I hope it is clear with all of the bashing of the student section that has been posted that it is not slighting those that showed up yesterday-they more than held their own. The criticism is directed toward all of those who found a way to make it to the previous games but chose to skip the Homecoming game.

Our remaining home opponents-Mich State, Illinois, and SDSU-are not exactly marquee teams. I am afraid that we may see more of the same, although the MSU game being at night may help bring some more to the game-if they make it that far!

Along these lines, does anybody know how our number of student tickets compares with other Big Ten schools? And, did it change any this year compared to the Metrodome years?
