Can anyone say roughly how many students were in attendance on Saturday? I know it was move-in weekend for many, but freshmen were in already (and seemed pumped from Thurs night) and there are other people there, too.

Just interested to see and I looked at the front page and didn't see a thread on this.

I don't think many freshman were there since they had welcome week stuff going on.

I would say there were about 2500 to 3000 before half time and about 1000 or less at the end of the game. Those are just my estimates.

i saw a ton of freshman sitting outside mariucci.. they didnt stick them in there for the orientation part during the game, did they?
I'd be pissed if i had to sit in there and miss watching the jumbotron at the stadium...

I am a freshman and I watched the game at the Stadium. There were people scattered throughout the student section, but I wouldn't say there were a large number of people there. Welcome week was going on as well, so that kind of put a damper on the numbers. On a side note: the big screen is amazing. TCF will rock this coming Saturday, I hope the gophers decide to show up for this one as i'm sure the crowd of 50,000 will be rockin' and rollin'.

Well, there really weren't as many students there as I had hoped, but even I, myself, thought about watching the game at home on the couch hungover rather than on bench seating. I guess it really makes no difference how many people were there though because come Saturday night there won't be a seat to spare. I did have one qualm about the stadium though.- There was this fiery, orange, hot thing in the sky that hurt my eyes every time I looked at it.

BOB loves the Gopher's

Oh, dont mind that big orange thing. Thats just BOB he loves the Gophers and was pissed when we moved indoors. So pissed he cursed them until he got the chance to watch the U play football again. Hence the horrible memories at the doom, I mean Dome.

Was the stadium open to all gopher fans to watch the game on the big screen, or was it just for students? If it was, I would have gone had I known about it . . .

It was just for students. Parents of the Marching band were also there.

There were quite a few students at the VB games Friday & Saturday night. The Gophers have a great VB team and quite a few BB players were there Saturday night against ISU.

There must have been a lot of freshmen there because no one else knew the cheers during the first half!!!
