Well maybe not the Big Ten, but definately in the top (bottom) 3.
Pathetic that they couldn't come close to filling in the upper deck for homecoming. I sure hope they realize that the student section should be around 6,000 and give the rest of the tickets to true gopher fans.

Also, I want to call out Lot 88....most pathetic tailgate lot in Gopher history. Only 6 vehicles in the lot at 10am? What the f? I understand it was cold out, but this lot is supposedly sold out? Terrible.

Yep, I've had a few today but that's what happens when you actually get your ass out there and tailgate at 6:30am. Truth fellas. Out.

Love it . . . calling it like it is!

Bunch of pansies in this state

Uh huh...so we should sell 4K more seats to regular season ticket holders who also left plenty of seats empty today. Hmmm...

Also, why are you complaining about C88? You do realize that tailgating isn't a big deal at the U and that plenty of non-tailgaters bought spots in the WB lots without any intention of tailgating? And its not supposedly sold it. Its sold out. Those folks either a) didn't go to the game or b) chose another route to the game that didn't include having to walk through the cold.

I'm not defending the students. I'm just saying that maybe, just maybe, there isn't a golden bullet to this problem other then winning.

I remember when I had my first beer

The problem is all the losers who bought tickets just to scalp them at outrageous prices. Then they just eat them when people don't want to pay their idiot price. There are ton of idiots who bought them just to try to re-sell them.

I'd love to go to game but will probably wait until next year.

I realize tailgating at the U isn't a big deal but why purchase these prime spots when there were plenty of ramp spots available. From the looks of the people getting out of the cars these people can't even walk to the shuttle.

Second, Mr. Samsonite....I'm sure I drank you today, then pissed you out. Nice moniker. I can see your a real gopher fan. Guido.

why are you so concerned with the fans? do you enjoy patting yourself on the back? Are you happy you outdrank everyone and bitched about the students, or did you actually watch the game too? I am a real gopher fan, I watched the game, not the tailgate lots or student section

I would say Wisconsins' is worse. After all it's full of Badgers.

Actually yes I am patting myself on the back. I surely did not outdrink everyone today, but yes I did drink AND have the time to watch the tailgate lots AND the student section. So if you think I am calling you out. I bet my ass I did the U of M proud today...unlike a sorry ass like you who keeps making excuses for everyone. Poon.

I was actually there in shorts and a t-shirt, without drinking, and cheering on my team, so im not making excuses for anything, just not putting down everyone else, sorry for being a poon though

Lot 86 was pretty weak today as well with hardly not many there to tailgate today.

Are any of the lots closer to the stadium any better for next year? (Not the 2k "Mandatory donation" one)

We've got a spot in lot 88. The lot has never been full. I've spoken with some of the other tailgaters there about how empty it is. I found out from one group I was talking to that they had purchased four spots in the lot but ended up carpooling to most games. That could at least partially explain its emptiness. That being said, I love the lot. It's an easy walk to campus and everyone tailgating there has been super nice and friendly.

Student section was just as full as the rest of the stadium

The sturdent section was just as full as the rest of the stadium. I know looking out from section 220 that there were alot of empty seeatrs intersparsed throughout the stadium. The reason why it looks worse in the sudetn section is for the simple fact that it is general admission. meaning that every packs in close to their friends as close to the field as possibble. meaning that all those empty seats that kind of blend in with the other sections get magnified in the corners of the student section.

If there were only 6,000 in the student section, then it would have been only 60% capacity.

By that same math, you're saying there were only 24,000 others in the 40,000 seats remaining.

= FAIL.

OR...

You're saying that there were also 4,000 empty seats amongst the 40,000 seats remaining, which very well could be true. However, that's 90% capacity to 60% in the student section.

= FACT

Students still lose.

What do you expect? We went from having 10k student tickets available and every student was allowed to buy 2 per person at the Dome to only allowing 1 per person at TCF.

The result is you end up with way more students that have to buy tickets to fill up the section since they can no longer use a second ticket by bringing a non-student. The more students who have to buy tickets, the more that are "casual" fans at best. I'm not surprised at all by how this has played out.

Well, the WB lots were cheaper...that's one reason. Maybe they wanted to walk when the weather was nice but made other plans for the cold. That's 2. I could go on but I won't...you know why? B/c people can get spots in a lot for any reason they want. There aren't enough tailgaters in our fanbase to fill all the spots. Deal. It will get better. Did you expect the culture to change overnight?

One day I hope I can grow up to be a winner like you.
