per Lerner:

The results of two investigations into the University of Minnesota’s athletics department will be presented Tuesday at a special meeting of the Board of Regents.

The findings are expected to shed light on the extent of sexual harassment and other problems during Norwood Teague’s three-year tenure as athletic director. The reports will be posted on the board’s website, regents.umn.edu, at 10 a.m. Tuesday, the university announced Friday.

Starting at 2 p.m. Tuesday, the board will hear from a pair of lawyers, Karen Schanfield and Joe Dixon, who were hired to dig into “the culture and hiring practices” in the department after Teague resigned in August in the wake of a sexual harassment scandal.

Go Gophers!!

Hopefully this will put it all to bed so that the U can get to work finding a new AD.

is there even a good outcome to these results with the exception of it being over and everything open to the public. Is there anything - such as punishments to any of the teams based on what occurred in the AD's office if any of the coaches knew of what was going on?

Regarding the culture and hiring practices-- any guesses on what that means?

Regarding the culture and hiring practices-- any guesses on what that means?

My guess - did the U of M athletic dep't under Teague promote a culture where sexual harassment was condoned? Were people hired, or not hired, based on factors other than competence? Were complaints or allegations of misconduct hushed up or not investigated? Was money being spent on activities unrelated to U business?

And, MNVCGUY - if you think this will "put it all to bed," you're dreaming. Once these reports come out, there will be daily stories in the paper, on TV and radio detailing any misconduct found or alleged in the Athletic Department. Look for headlines about "shocking details" unearthed by investigation. "Allegations of Misconduct" in Gopher Athletics. "Lavish spending" by Teague and others in the Athletic Department.

Then, of course, the U will have to form a committee to study the findings of the reports, and issue recommendations. followed by more stories and fallout in the paper, etc.

I'll bet you even money the Gophers don't even think about trying to hire a new permanent AD before mid-summer of 2016. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Goetz is still the interim AD when the 2016 FB season starts.

We're talking about Gopher Athletics here. We/they have self-flagellation down to a science.

If I had to guess if there was anything juicy in this investigation it would've been leaked by now. If were at this point, tomorrow will be at worse embarrassing, but no worse than anything previously uncovered. We have two major media outlets digging 24/7 for dirt especially the Westside Fish wrap who wants this to be their Ganlegate.

FWIW, Mike Max when talking with Dave Lee on WCCO this morning said he had heard that women's BB could have some issues after the report was released.

Typical over zealousnes over Minnesota and somewhat bias sanctions. I don't condone what happened under Woody's watch, but Minnesota may get the brunt of punishments if they find something.

North Carolina's basketball team has for years been thumbing their noses at the NCAA, but the NCAA won't do anything. With the Gangelhoff scandal, the Gophers had to vacate their victories and had their NCAA tournament victories wiped clean.

And then there is the Oklahoma deal with a player shooting another player among other things a few years back under Barry Switzer's tenure. Nothing ever happened to them.

But, wait and see what will happen to the Gophers. If there are institutional problems like former player Carter alluded that exists, maybe they should for once and for all wiped the slate clean and fire everyone that is part of the problem and start from scratch.

We always talked about Wisconsin's ascendancy with Donna Shalala at the helm. They need to fix the organizational structure so that the Ad(s) can run the athletics program without one hand tied behind their back(s). Otherwise, who will want to come here and be micro-managed? Will Beth Goetz even want that job?

Folks, it all starts at the top if you want a quality professional organization.

This message was just sent to me:

Good afternoon Varsity "M" ~

Please see below for a message from Interim Athletics Director Beth Goetz in advance of the External Review to be presented to the Board of Regents tomorrow.

I just wanted to communicate to you in advance that the External Review of the Athletics Department conducted in the wake of Norwood Teague's August resignation will be presented to the Board of Regents next Tuesday, December 8. For those of you interested, you may view a live stream of that presentation here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SOBbzxhfEg.

We look forward to reviewing the report when it is released and will work closely with University leadership to implement any needed improvements and other recommendations pertaining to the Athletics Department that will help us continue to better serve and develop our student-athletes.

I want to thank you for your support during this period and going forward. Once the findings have been presented and we have had an opportunity to review them, we will share additional communication providing some context and our plan moving forward to address any concerns and implement recommendations.

Please feel free to reach out to me, George or any senior administrators in the department with any questions, concerns or other messages.

Thanks and Go Gophers!
Beth Goetz

And let's not forget PSU. If that had been us, we would have been given at least a 10-year death penalty followed by over 100-years of probation.

And half the state would have squealed with glee.

Color me surprised and color the Strib PISSED. They had to have been excited for this news story.

There will be a sheet-storm anyway. 743 pages to comb through. Critics will still say "See the U IS out of control!"

Guessing it will all be posted on here too.

Investigators found little evidence of sexual harassment or inappropriate behavior at the University of Minnesota’s athletics department during Norwood Teague’s three year tenure as athletic director, according to a report by two outside lawyers.

The report, posted on the Board of Regents’ website Tuesday morning, said that “with a few limited exceptions,” witnesses said they “did not observe Teague behave in a manner that was flirtatious, sexual, or inappropriate …” It also concluded that the “vast majority of witnesses described a positive work environment, where men and women were supported.”

The investigation, which cost $690,000, was conducted by Karen Schanfield and Joe Dixon, two Minneapolis lawyers who were hired by the university to dig into “the culture and hiring practices” in the department after Teague resigned in August in the wake of a sexual harassment scandal.

The report, along with an audit of the athletics department, will be presented formally to the Board of Regents at a special meeting at 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Teague resigned Aug. 6 after two female administrators accused him of sexual harassment, including sending offensive text messages, at a senior leadership retreat in July. A colleague, Mike Ellis, resigned Nov. 6 as senior associate athletic director after the university began investigating several anonymous complaints against him. Ellis said at the time that he “did nothing wrong,” and that the investigation resulted in no disciplinary findings.

Headline at the Strib:

Developing Story: University wastes $690,000 for an investigation that yielded nothing!

Would this investigation have even happened if the local media didn't flip out over this and start their own investigation and look in spending histories and contacting every person who could have been in contact with Teague just to find any dirt possible for a story? Thanks local media for making them waste $690,000 that could have been put into more kids tuition or keeping sports in the black alive.

What a waste of 690k.

Guess who gets to pay this tab? What a F*ing Clown Show at the U. As men's BB and FB continue to a schittstorm for over 40 years. I'll never contribute another dime to any non-athletics U funding.

Good for you. Somehow, I think the U will continue to exist without your $3.50.

Well they had to find a way to smear the U if there was nothing in the report!

Of course that jack wagon John Shipley posts only the one possible negative shred of evidence against the U and nothing else. What is that guy's deal.

No mention of false accusations from the track team.
