Story on how the O-Line is bonding over haircuts. Cue they "Who cares they need to play better" posts.

On another note North Carolina is expanding there investigation "into possible academic misconduct involving players and a woman who has worked as a tutor.." I didn't know that Lou Holtz was even working with North Carolina!

(That's only for fans who remember Luther Darville and Notre Dame. "Convicted? No, never convicted.")

We have heard recently how close this team is. Group hugs have been implemented in practice this year. I'm glad everyone is getting along but it's time to start winning football games over quality opponents.

Jesus Christ on a stick(it's state fair time)...I can't believe some of the people that respond to the articles on the strib. It can't be healthy to be that negative and mean. It would be hard to fault someone that simply cannot get excited for Gopher football considering our history (I'm not one...I'm pumped for next week) but the hatred is just out of line. I just assume they couldn't get into the U, and this is their last resort for their bitterness. Or they could just really hate public universities...I'm sure they'll have fun at the Beck debacle tomorrow.

It's my full belief that the comment sections on any publication and contains the dregs of human civilization. Star trib, cnn.com, yahoo news, it doesn't matter. The filth that is spewed is hard to believe. I sometimes wonder where these people hang out in the real world.

I know I'm pissed that the 2010 Golden Gophers haven't won any games yet.

A team that is united is far better than a team in disarray. If it takes haircuts to bond them, go for it.

Go to the central library in downtown Minneapolis and I'm pretty sure you'll see a few of them.

There are two general rules about the reader comments on the strib website. They are both unwavering and constant:

1) No matter how far removed a story can be from political (Democrat vs Republican), someone (and usually multiple people) will find a way to use it as an example of how horrible the other side of the political spectrum is.

2) No matter how nice, how much of a puff piece, happy, care free, etc. the article is, at least 60% of the comments will be negative and angry.

The comments on the haircut article are running with about the same amount of negativity as an article about a puppy saving the life of an elderly woman would.

It's not just the strib site, it's pretty much any comment section for any media outlet. Actual discussion of the issue is pretty much impossible. I was reading an article (I forget where) about a rookie major league baseball player who lives with his parents. It's convenient because he's playing in his hometown. People were blasting him. These are the same people who would be blasting him if he was spending all of his money living extravagantly. It makes good sense for him to live at home, he can save all that money. For all we know, that could be the only year he gets to make that kind of money, it's not exactly the most stable job. It's really not anyone else's business if he wants to stay at home, but the trolls don't need an excuse to bash.
