The Gophers have 30 victories over the past four seasons, but senior quarterback Mitch Leidner said he’d trade all of them for one win over Wisconsin on Saturday.

“I probably would, to be honest with you,” Leidner said Tuesday.

It’s the longest running rivalry in the Football Bowl Subdivision, at 125 games dating back to 1890, but it’s also become one of the most one-sided.

The Badgers have won 12 consecutive games against the Gophers, who haven’t celebrated with Paul Bunyan’s Axe since Rhys Lloyd hit his game-winning field goal at the Metrodome in 2003.

“We need to win it here eventually,” Gophers coach Tracy Claeys said, “to make it a rivalry again.”

Go Gophers!!

It makes you wonder reading something like this if the Gopher coaches get it ...and if the previous coaches said eventually we'll get it no wonder we've not won in 12 years..:confused::confused:

Mitch get's it, he would trade all other wins to get this last one over the Badgers. If the rest of team had that mindset, and they all were determined to make it happen there would be a real chance. There is more on the line here than the Axe, we need to prevent them from going to Indianapolis and even being in the conversation for the National title. The Skunks must be stopped, nobody want's to see that boring team in the playoff 4 format. Someone on the team needs to draw a line in the sand, twelve bleeping years has been far too long. Like Rhys Llyod said it is about damn time somebody else grabs the torch and grabs the Axe. As the cartoon say's I can't stands no more. Go Gophers!
