Something to look forward to. In crippling foul trouble tonight, the Gophers weren't necessarily crippled. Pitino had to scrap together a frontcourt and play Bakary Konate and Gaston Diedhiou together for extended minutes, and still Minnesota hung with Ohio State, at least defensively, in those stretches. Pitino pointed out that the Gophers could have taken a good lead if Mo Walker had been able to play more early, but the fact that they weren't getting crushed with that lineup, in my opinion, is something of a positive. And Nate Mason -- while held scoreless in the second half -- showed more sparks of the aggressive player that could have big impact next year with a summer of improvement. Silver linings here for a future that looks raw but promising.

Go Gophers!!

A little nit-picky but... The team is raw but the future looks promising. Saying that future is raw is not a good thing nor is it promising....

I guess i shouldn't expect any better from the STrib.

Well, Amelia, the Gophers were -19 in the 15 minutes Bakary played and -8 in the 7 minutes Gaston played. I wouldn't call that hanging with the Buckeyes defensively.

I love Mason. He is a tough gritty player. Unfortunately, he probably won't be as productive next year unless a freshman next year steps up big time. This season, Mason was the #2 or #3 MN guard on the court and was guarded as such by the #2 or #3 defensive guard-type player from the other team. Next year, he gets the other teams top defender (like the 2nd half in last night's against OH) and has more trouble scoring. There may be some hope if Morrison can pass on the dumb shots and not be a liability a large part of the time.

Where do you get that info? Not doubting or arguing, just always on the lookout for more data sources.

Complain all you want about Amelia, she says interesting things and has nice lips.

This may be the case or Dorsey gets valuable experience in the non conference schedule and is just as strong of a player as Mason. Dorsey comes in as a higher rated player and i have high hopes for him. I also expect us to add at least one more player who could also come in and surprise. Ellison. Etc. guard play won't be our issue. It will be the development of our big men and rebounding.

And forgot to mention that Ohio State is a good team but not that good. Not even close to the top of the conference. Home loss to UW by 25 !

Go back to your cheesehead board. Why do buckybags troll here? Get a life.

Wisconsin really has a good team this year. Too bad that Wisky fans are still pricks.
