STrib: Most classes at the University of Minnesota will be taught fully online this fall.

Oh boy...

As a parent of two kids attending the U, this saddens me. However, I feel things will be closer to normal for the spring semester.

The U will be "taking it in the shorts" financially. No need to pay for room and board if everything is online. Plus, it could be significantly cheaper to take some online transfer credits at scores of cheaper colleges throughout the country (the route my daughter is taking with her school). Traditional higher education schools could be getting hit hard this fall while affordable schools with strong online presences could be benefitting.

yes. If you have a first or second year student still taking generals, you can take them at a local community college and those credits transfer.

I definitely agree that a lot of students who might've otherwise chose to live in U owned housing & dining won't be signing those contracts, or will be getting a refund.

That's just life right now.

Would be interesting to know if the U will allow students not enroll for a semester or two, and still "keep" any credits they've already taken, towards their degree.

Something to think about.

they already do this. Your credits are good for quite a while before they expire.
