This is why you recruit one or two QBs in each class. Presumably, many QBs are athletic enough to play other positions if they don't pan out making them attractive recruiting options.

Wasn't Leidner being considered for tight end, but on the same weekend he was observed playing QB in a seven on seven tournament? He impressed the coaching staff enough on what they saw as a raw potential dual threat QB, and the rest is history.

People may not be totally enamored with him now. Give him a chance as the starting QB. He is our best option at the moment as the most experienced of the bunch. He doesn't need to be spectacular playing behind a good cast on offense. Just good enough to win more games than not.

We'd love to get a Ruddock (Iowa) as a signal caller, and that time may ultimately come where someone surely will surprise.

Off topic here, I have to say I am excited about the potential for the offense to really step up next season with a beefed up O Line and with a solid RB corps (hopefully this will include Jeff Jones - a potential program changer). Don't forget that we may see 6' 9" TE Wozniak & 6'9" Pirsig on offense.

Nelson may have shocked leaving the program, but on the bright side it opens up opportunity for the next man up at QB & backups. We need to keep the QB train going in the right direction enough to convince the 2015 & 2016 QB targets interested (Seth Green, etc...).
