STrib: Kill explains lack of carries for Edwards, Williams

Doesn't bother me. Cobb is the best of the 3. Williams does some nice work on the goal line though.

I do get his wanting to ride the talented back, but these aren't machines. They are people. If Cobb's body starts to break down or he gets injured, Gophers could be in serious trouble. It's a long, grinding season.

Also, assuming they can block, why not have two running backs in on some plays - do a bit of option, pass to one of them, etc.

You hope that the next man up is patient with a good attitude, and works hard on blocking and perfecting their run game in the meantime. They have to be real team guys.

Agreed as far as team success, you hope Edwards or whoever can step up if needed.

However, with the impact this type of load has had an NFL guys I also worry for Cobb's future after this season. Even if he doesn't get truly injured where time is missed, the abuse to your body can have lifelong effects. If he carries 30 times per game or whatever the number, he is getting hit that many times every game. No other position feels that type of punishment. It catches up eventually.

There must be a reason why Williams is not at FB. Not a good blocker, bad hands, lack of toughness, etc?

I thought by this time of the season, Edwards would be making some headway and getting 8-10 touches both at RB & Slot. Maybe his shoulder ding has held him back.

After watching a couple of LSU games, I wish we had a good good blocking fullback (I'm assuming we don't because we usually see Cobb as a solo RB in the backfield). The advantage of a good FB as a leading blocker can be so devasting.

We recruited that Kansas juco but didn't he have a season ending injury?

Just curious
