STrib: Gary Tinsley: Learning from his mistakes

Thanks Bleed for posting. What a great story. Happy for him GT hope he has a career day, carries the Axe, and is successful in a marketing career.

I remember Tinsley being a "beauty" when he got here. Good for him for growing up and taking ownership of his situation as a citizen, student, and player. I hope he gets a shot to start his professional career in the Twin Cities.

I think Harbaugh is a bit much at times, but I respected how he called out his alma matter for just using kids for Saturdays and forgetting about them when their eligibility runs out. It would be great for recruits visiting the sidelines and the locker room to meet a former player who moved up here on his own and made something out of his opportunity at the University in the metro area.

Gary Tinsley is the making of a great story about what is really good about this Minnesota Program even through some tough years. It may have been easy to toss him out or turn our backs on him when he encountered what appeared to be frequent off field issues. BUT, the Program stuck behind him and allowed him to mature. Both GT and The U should benefit greatly as a consequence.

As one who was willing to let him go after a couple of those "issues", it's nice to read this story. Great to see him on the right path, and the hypocrite in me is also very glad we kept him around to tackle people.

One of the few good things Brewster did during his tenure was sticking by this kid and giving him a couple of chances to mature. I'm glad he did and hope that GT can leave with the Axe!
