How big a "leader" are these guys?

Mitch was said to be a good leader but even when he was playing under Kill, Kill publicly and repeatedly said he wanted to see more leadership from the players...
 

I'm surprised Steve Richardson wasn't named as well. But good choices besides that.

Little surprised by that as well. 2 off and 2 def would have made some sense not that it really matters all that much in the big picture.
 



Richardson didn't play to start the year because he wasn't working hard enough in practice. If you call him out for that, tough to name him a captain. I realize he could change but it seems the likely reason.
Poock, I think does his own thing based again on coaches comments. Stelter seems like a hard worker for sure...Elmore has always been a big team guy!! He comes to mind for me as the biggest omission.
 

I always laugh when people outside the team criticize the captain picks, as if they know anything about how the team functions off the field.

No kidding. It's basically the coach picking the face of his team. Every team and coach seem to do it differently. Lingen was a captain this year, so he must be a pretty good leader. This magnifies missing him for so much of the season.

Kill's first two years he named them on a week to week basis.

While I do agree for the most part, there is an assumption that Claeys made the decision by himself. The team may have influenced, or voted. The assistants may have had input as well. We most likely will not know if Claeys made the decision, or it was a combo of inputs.
