per Joe:

The Gophers are believed to lead the Big Ten, if not the nation, with seven targeting penalties, though the conference won’t release that information until season’s end.

On Tuesday’s Big Ten media teleconference, coach Tracy Claeys was asked if he’s concerned about his players developing a reputation with officials.

“No, not at all,” Claeys said, reiterating that he thinks three of the targeting penalties came on unavoidable hits. “We practice the way you’re supposed to practice and lower the target down.

“And anytime you have a game and everything’s full speed and happening fast, that can happen. And when it does, you call it and you get punished. But no, I don’t worry about that.”

Go Gophers!!

he should worry about it because it has cost his players many quarters of being ineligible to play not to mention the 15 yards. Thankfully-- as far as I know that none of the players hit by us was severely injured. Yes a few were marginal but most were not and they can't keep doing it and getting kicked out of games

Two were correct call, three were marginal and two were totally the wrong call. That isn't even my complaint. My complaint is that other teams making similar hits are not being called at all. Something is rotten in Denmark.

Plot twist: We are middle of the pack... (that would be funny though)

Totally. agree, and not because of the hits on Mitch. Watch a lot of games and the calls are all over the place. As someone posted earlier, seems like it's called much less often in the SEC, and I've seen some pretty brutal H to H hits there that didn't even draw a flag...probably because it would have resulted in a review for targeting.
