per Joe:

“Whenever you have a new boss, you don’t know how they feel,” Claeys said. “Or some of them want to bring in their own person. So I trust him and respect him an awful lot.”

Multiple sources have told the Star Tribune that Claeys and his assistant coaches will get contract extension offers. But it’s unclear if that will come before the Dec. 27 Holiday Bowl.

“You have to sit down and meet,” Claeys said. “I don’t have time, and we did recruiting all last week. I’ll be out all this week on the road recruiting and getting ready for the bowl game. Until signing day [Feb. 1], it’s hard to find some breathing room in there to worry about that.”

Go Gophers!!

I remember it being discussed that Claeys did his own negotiating on his previous contract. If things are so tight time wise might be time for him to do what most head coaches do and hire someone to do his negotiating for him.

Well I mean they must have met a few times... and really just have your agent (get one if don't have one) talk contract terms.

Ron Davis, the old Twin used to hire a contracts lawyer for a few hours to do his work. He argued that to pay them $300/hour to read over the document and make sure it was what Davis wanted was a big savings. Unwise to pay some agent a specific % of the contract. I don't know, I'll never be in that situation.

Depends on what you're using the guy for. Negotiation skills are invaluable.

Kirk down in Iowa noted that when he asked around for advice before his HC job he heard "hire an agent" ... Kirk should be pretty happy with the results.
