I apologize if someone else brought it up but would we retain the strength coach? I haven't seen information on Kill's staff about that position. It seems that Kill has an up tempo style to practice and endurance would be the key.

I don't know if we were a tired team but I just don't see that progression that I seem to see with other programs. Our players seem to get bigger but not always in a positive way. Some players have definitely lost weight and become more effective, I just don't see that strength that I would think you'd see out of some guys..

Kill has had his strength coach for about 12 years. The guy is from Apple Valley and I assume he will take over in that position.

If I recall the guys names is Klien or something starting with K. Carleton grad, and perahps AV. Been with Kill a while, it seems with his local ties here he would be almost certain to come up.

A member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association, USA Weightlifting and the National Association of Speed and Explosion, Klein is certified by each organization. He is also a member of the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association.

The big change will be "Speed and Explosion" those are quick twitch muscles. I have felt that the athletes were bigger, possibly stronger, but less quick, less explosive. The emphasis Klein will take is build the core, and base. The conditioning will feature more timed short sprints, 40 yard dashes, and less long distance running. The focus will be in how quick can you run 10 yards, how high can you elivate, and what is your 40 time. Make no mistake strenght will be key. What is your squat, press, and bench. I would think he will have an index, values each of these and more and a player will have an index rating. Whether this will be made public, I doubt it.

The strength and conditioning coach for Kill has been with him everywhere he's been and according to one of the strength coach's close friends in the area who I talked with yesterday, he is 99.9% sure he will be on the staff at Minnesota. The coach said "it's like hitting the lottery going to the Big Ten"

Its nice to have "one of us" on the staff, Sid will definitely cozy up to him.
