Per Strack:

Sounds like Gophers hit on Oklahoma transfer RB, Marcus Major

We are still weeks out from the start of the 2024 regular season. But PJ believes they may have found what they were looking for, in Oklahoma grad-transfer, Marcus Major.

PJ Fleck told media members gathered on campus Saturday that “It’s one thing to be able to show it in the offseason,” Fleck beamed about his new veteran running back, “then you let him out there and run. His first few days of practice, he has been awesome.”

Go Gophers!!

Everyone heard what fleck said about QB when he talked about what slowed down the offense last year but he also made a lot of comments about WR/TE and RB depth

I stumble across things....

Gopher's on the other hand, might actually just be good at finding these guys.

I was thinking the same thing.

Do other teams also merely "stumble upon" the good players on their roster?

I was always under the impression that college football coaching staffs have to put in long hours of hard work scouting and recruiting these players.

You would think the news media might notice that the University of Minnesota seems to "stumble on" a lot of very very good running backs, from all over the country, for like the last 20-25 years, really.

Nahhh - it is just an accident.......

We do run an offensive philosophy geared to showcase RBs (even when our passing game is cooking), and develop OL talent that increases the success of the running game. Recruits and transfers probably notice.

What a strange article. You don't stumble on a guy who played at Oklahoma last year but it is also way too early to start throwing around stud comments after just a couple of practices.

I realize this is a joke. He just never got his feet under himself. The two replacements seem to be the real deal.
Does never got his feet under himself mean a light breeze would blow him over and/or make him fumble?

Major was a 4-star out of high school. Had a Bama offer too.

If PJ Fleck ever gets a pro HC job I'm taking his RB1 with my first pick in fantasy football.

He's a fantasy manager's dream for running backs...picks his guy, runs him 30 times a game, leaves him in on 3rd down, gives him the ball at the goal line.

Minnesota is a savvy pick if you are a 4* RB who wants to put up the numbers to get noticed. Now we just need to get our backs drafted.

You'd have to handcuff RB1 about 4 dudes deep

I absolutely would. His RB2 would be a great handcuff because you know it's next man up and he's going to get the same treatment. Like when Jordan Nubin was a fantasy football god against MSU.
