Still some hope for Big XII survival?

Dunno. Sounds like standard CYA talk until they know WTF Texas wants to do.

Oklahoma's AD is named Joe Castiglione? Random, that's the name of the Red Sox radio announcer.

This is what I see happening to the Big 12:

I think this:

(Boise State to the MWC)

may be an indication that the Big XII will survive for a few more years. Colorado joins the Pac10. Nebraska joins the Big Ten. The PacTen looks to add Utah. The Big12 either stays at 10 or raids the MWC. Either way, Boise State is a good addition for the MWC right now.

I kind of like the idea of the Big12 having 10 schools and the Big Ten having 12 schools for a couple years.:)

I don't think the Big 12 will hold steady if they have to do without a championship game. Without any inside knowledge, it seems like moving to the Pac 10 makes sense to everyone in the conference with any power over where they go. They get to basically keep the Big 12 South together, keep a title game (but against a stronger opposite division than they have now) and add a bunch of prestige.

I look at it as in indication that the Big 12 is dead. In principle, the Big 12 could suvive by raiding the MWC, but it is likely that the opposite will take place. Texas and Oklahoma won't be there much longer, and I don't think the remnants will be organized enough to hold it together by grabbing up other teams.

It reminds me of the end of the North Central Conference. It's best teams had left, and the remnants could have survived br raiding the NSIC, but instead the NCC folded and the NSIC aborbed them. The remnants didn't have enough will and organization to remain together.

Right now, there's a lot of teams in the Big 12 that have to be seriously concerned about where they will wind up. The MWC has no worries, things are only looking up for them.
