Steve Parish talks about son's commitment; calls Gjere an "impressive young man"

Wisconsin QB commits to Gophers
The Gophers haven't been shy about loading up with top quarterbacks ever since coach Tim Brewster took over the program two years ago.

Brewster could end up bringing in a quarterback for the fourth straight recruiting class, because Arrowhead High School (Wis.) junior Tom Parish gave an oral commitment this weekend to play for the University of Minnesota in 2010.

"Tom announced his decision in front of the entire team yesterday after the (Gopher) scrimmage," Parish's father, Steve said. "The team swarmed him chanting, 'Minnesota, Minnesota.' It was pretty special."

Parish, a 6-foot-3, 205-pound signal caller from Arrowhead, Wis., is "an athlete first with raw talent," according to his father. Steve Parish, who played at the University of Wisconsin, also said Gophers offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch thought his son would be a great fit for the team's new pro-style offense.

"Coach Brewster and his entire staff have made our family feel very welcome," Steve Parish said. "Tommy is thrilled to be a Gopher."

The younger Parish picked the Gophers over several interested schools, including Iowa and Wisconsin. The Gophers were the first school to offer him a scholarship.

There will potentially be a competitive battle at quarterback in the coming years. Bloomington Jefferson's Moses Alipate signed in the 2009 class. Cretin Derham Hall's John Nance and Indianapolis Ben Davis' MarQueis Gray signed in 2008. Brewster's son, Clint, arrived in 2007, but he transferred.

-- Tom Parish's father said Irondale High School junior offensive lineman Jimmy Gjere, another Minnesota commit, addressed the Gophers' team at Saturday's scrimmage.

"He is quite an impressive young man," he said about Gjere.

Go Gophers!!

I, personally, appreciate BleedGopher's posts of Gopher-related media here.

That's an interesting concept to have recruits address the team. They are unsigned verbal commits talking to the team. That is pretty heady stuff for a junior in HS. Brewster knows how to use all the techniques to pull in a recruit. Impressive.

Some say he gets it from a mystic yak that he feeds only organic grains grown on the slopes of the Himalayas but others say he sneaks into people's bedrooms and listens to them talk in their sleep, either way Bleed has consistently had great information for well over a decade. It is very much appreciated.

Bleed has had great information or the newspaper has had great information? All he did was post the paper.

Don't read it.
That simple. :)
I'm fine with people posting these things.

Seriously. How many times do we have to go over this? Stop already.

Get over yourself.
