Here are the team stats in which we're in the top 35 nationally:

#7 Kickoff return yards allowed per Kickoff
#10 Pass Defense (passing yards allowed per game)
#16 Pass Efficiency Defense
#24 4th Down Completion Percentage Allowed
#25 Time of Posession (is this a good thing or does the opponent just score quickly?)
#34 Total Defense (total yards allowed per game)
#35 Sacks Allowed

And here are the things we're in the bottom 35 nationally:

#111 Fumbles recovered
#104 Red Zone Defense
#99 Kickoff return yards per kickoff received
#95 Offensive yards per game
#92 Passing yards per game
#90 Offensive scoring per game
#90 Turnovers gained
#88 Red Zone Offense

The thing here that surprises me most is our bad red zone defense when the defense has been really solid overall. I'm also surprised at how well our O-Line is protecting the QB from sacks.

What on the "naughty list" is fixable with 3 games left? I hope the red zone defense improves and I hope to see some passing yardage improvements as Nelson gains experience.

If Illinois plays as poorly on Saturday as they have played the 1st nine games, then our stats might look a little better.

Offense has been bad for years. We need Martinez, Burkhead level of offensive players. We can't compete in our division at this time.

Even worse if you look at percentage of TD's scored in the red zone. Teams have scored a TD 73% of the time they get into the red zone against us. Texas, who is ranked last in red zone defense overall, has allowed teams to score TD's just 60% of the time.

I knew our kickoff coverage was pretty good.

Those are some good numbers on the defense of side of the ball with the passing game. I knew our offense was bad but wow not good. They are holding up with pass blocking but we need to get stronger to be a better run blocking team that will come with age.

Not to get into a pissing match or anything, but the Gophers offense averages over 50 yards more per game this year compared to 2009. Also, almost .5 yards a play more. Points per game is a little up: 23.89 to 20.92. Still not good enough but certainly not as bad as that year.

That was Fisch's first year, this is Limegrover's second.

Fisch was also creating an offense from scratch and trying to do a million things all at the same time whereas Limegrover has a well established system. I don't think it is time to pull the plug on Limegrover yet but he and Fisch are not a great comparison as Fisch was a first time offensive coordinator when he got here.

Still doesn't change the fact that Fisch never put up those numbers.

Not arguing who is better or worse, just that your statement was false.
