Star Tribune: No more waiting to hit weights

Another awesome article. It's crazy the press the Goph's have been getting.. And not much, if any, has been negative.

I friggin' love it.

"He wants you to train your body, so in the fourth quarter, you're still able to move quickly."

^^^^^ This makes so much sense.
Hopefully it's the difference, late in close games...

Agreed. It's like their hatred for Brewster made them all forget about their original hatred for the program in general.

One of the things that I like the most about Jerry Kill is how it seems as though everything he does has extensive analysis backing it up. It seems as though there is very little wasted motion on this staff and the strength and conditioning program just seems to be one more example of that. Could this all be so much hype? I suppose, but it sounds pretty good right now and I love that the players are getting into a disciplined routine.

Klein considers himself the "get back" coach, what a classic line, the guys got a good sense of humor.

This would be very amusing except there is more than a little truth to it.

I don't think it's just hype that Kill runs a very meticulous, detail-oriented program. He's been doing this for years and years. There's nothing new about his stuff, he's just doing it on a higher level. Hopefully it works just as well as it has been for him since he's started his career.

That said, I'm not sure he's necessarily doing anything all that special that you don't see at a lot of programs. The problem for us is, we haven't had a coach come in and do these things at Minnesota at all. He just seems to understand the importance of ALL aspects of the program, from recruiting, S&C, to coaching, and he knows exactly what he wants to do to try to accomplish things in all of those facets. Hopefully this is the trigger we'll need to get this program kicking.

There's a reason he has has 13 winning seasons and 4 losing seasons. He has a system. All four of those losing records were in the first or second year of a program. One of the four was still a bowl team.
