I knew St Johns recruiting class was big but 9 players is insane. But I would guess the reason behind the large class is that it is Lavin's first and he wants to get HIS players in HIS(meaning Gene Keady's) system as soon as possible. I realize it is a little different system but Tom Crean did the same thing at IU. He had 100% roster turn over his first two years. There are advantages and disadvantages but when a completely different regimes comes in they really want to mold the program in the way they want and the fast and easiest way to do that is to bring in their own players.

Largest class I remember (in recent times) was 11 signed by Billy Tubbs at Lamar some 10+ years ago.

I really enjoyed the St Johns Duke game. I loved the way Lavin's team plays.
