Gophers are ranked 77th.
Karl Mecklenburg: "I love the number 77, but I think you've ranked the Gophers too low. Coach Kill will have Minnesota competing every week. This year will be the start of a steady climb back to national prominence for the maroon and gold."

Other notables:
9. Nebraska
10. Wisconsin
14. Michigan State
17. Ohio State
24. Penn State
28. Iowa
34. Northern Illinois
39. Northwestern
40. Michigan
45. Purdue
59. Illinois
90. Indiana

Even with all their problems, I can't see Ohio State being the 4th-best team in the B1G. They'll still have a lot boatload of talent. For now (until there are actual sanctions), they're still Ohio State.

Wow, is Northern Illinois really that good? And are Iowa and Penn State maybe up a little high? I wanna say Penn State only got 6 or 7 wins, and Iowa was trending downward at the end of the season, although I suppose they didn't win their bowl game didn't they?

My somewhat pointless two cents.

Sounds about right. We are less than 70 days til kickoff and I will say Gophers win 4 at best and 1 at worst. I have been wrong before e.g. Mark Sanchez will fail in the NFL.

Michigan State is a bit too high. 14??? That team walked on water all season last year. The Iowa and Alabama games exposed them big time. Hard to have all that late game fortune go your way again the very next year, especially with a more difficult schedule this season. No way they end the year in the top 15.

The buckeyes and trojans are not going bowling so who cares where they are. I think Northern Illinois is a testament as to how Coach Kill can recruit given a few years. If he can recruit that well at NIU, it will be much easier for him to recruit for the Gophers.

MSU had the best record I have ever seen for a pretty good team. Iowa took them apart and they were completely over-matched in the bowl game; did not belong on the field. Dantonio is a very good game prep coach, and they play consistent tough football, but they just were not that talented. I will be amazed if he is not the next OSU coach.

Wisconsin - 10, I don't think so. Is Purdue going to make a turn around?

Didn't you know sconnnie has the greatest qb ever to play in the Big Ten coming in this fall?

Adam Weber is playing for the Badgers now?!?!

Yep, hard to imagine them finishing 10 when they are supposed to win the national championship.

We're only ranked that low because our fan base doesn't buy as many Sporting News magazines as all the others above us do.....

Absolutely the most reliable, informative, right on, accurate, rag on the stand.

Not so much

Bingo, we have a winner!

It could be that has a little to do with the rankings. But, on the other hand, I think more of these magazines will sell in the Twin Cities market than in DeKalb, Illinois.

It's all good. Everyone likes to mak predictions. I predict I still wont like Becky Badger after this season no matter how many W's they have.
