Spoorts Huddle: Coach Kill will be on shortly

Question and Comments

1) There are too many recruiting mistakes. Coaches need to get to know the players they're recruiting better. He has mixed emotions about an early signing period. He personally doesn't belileve an early signing period will happen.

2) It's important that you recruit and sign players that want to be at your university. He then went on to talk about the school's APR, which is affected by academic losses and transfers. When asked if the U would lose scholarships because of its low APR coach Kill responded, "That's to be deterrmined. I hope not." Half the team is presently in their mandatory study program. Several players need to have a very good semester academically.

3) Talked about last night's Meet and Greet. He said assistant/positioon coaches are responsible for monitoring the players that they coach. "He's the head coach of the position that he coaches."

4) Position changes: He'll know more following conditioning and spring drills. "There could be a few changes."

5) You recruit players that can play several positions. You look for players that can run and are athletes. "You develop the players in the weight room."

6) He said so far the current recruiting class could be classified as a good sollid group. You don't know how good a class is until a year or two down the road. Right now they're "paper tigers."

Brewster took the same approach that 90% of all other DI coaches take when talking about their recruiting classes. Most Holers understood that. How come you didn"t? Did you like Mason's approach to recruiting better than Brewster's?
