Spent some time this morning at Mahtomedi's practice with OL Tommy Olson... great kid! Said he put on 10 lbs of muscle this offseason... he'll also play DE for most snaps... but OL is his college position, specifically likely RG... but that could change.

Best quote was when he talked about crying after Ed relayed the news about being the starting LT. Said he can see himself starting on the same O-line as his brother in 2 years. He is 6'4'', 290 lbs. His dad worked him out & Ed pretty good this summer... as did a personal trainer. Tommy looks to be in great shape.

Reminder: He committed to the "U" in the January after his sophomore year. He is now a senior.

This young man is a four star player for sure but had he camped he may be a five. Oh well, I'm just so glad that we will have two Olsen Linemen at once eventually.

I think this sums up pretty well what the Olson family is all about. It would be nice if all in-state prospects felt this strongly about playing for and representing their University.

Sounds like this is what the Rallis family is all about as well. Hopefully this will change for others as well.

I'm looking for a home in the Mahtomedi school district. Maybe my midwestern stock boys will be able to represent the U like the Olsons :D.

In all honestly, Mahtomedi is a seriously awesome school district. I used to substitute teach there quite a bit. No school that close to Minneapolis/St. Paul even approaches it in terms of providing a combination of big-school amenities, quality education, quality athletics, and still maintaining a small-town feel and values. I'd be living there if the homes weren't so damn expensive in that area.

I had a HS graduating class of 12, and it felt a lot like my school growing up. That's pretty tough to do at a school that size.

Dang... you are all gushy and nice today. What is up with that? Oh, and I graduated with a HS class of 24 so I'm pretty sure we would have worn you down with our numbers.

Agreed. Thanks for the info Doogie.

I appreciate the blurb, and I look forward to when this process is complete. Are you interested in buying a home? :p

I'll buy yours if you can get someone to buy mine for what I paid for it 4+ years ago.

31! Did you get lost? Trying to comprehend what it would be like to be in a graduating class that big, is like trying to comprehend the heat and humidity in TN for me. I don't think it is possible.

I think we had 895. I met people 10 years later, hung out with them and found out after another 4 years that we went to high school together.

I knew the birthdays of every person in my class, not to mention the names of all their parents, and the names of all their brothers and sisters. In most cases, even the first and middle names.

Completely different worlds.

So did I...it was just a LOT more work.

Yeah but their dad can't rap worth a crap. It's all about priorities baby!!

Yep

Let's lock up Nick Rallis and in 2 years, we'll have 2 from each family contributing, if not starting (although it'd be tough for Nick to start as a true frosh).

Just think it's conceivable that we could have an offensive line of Olson and McAvoy a center and then Olson and McAvoy. With all the brother combinations you might think it's a conspiracy to insure Dave Lee knows the roster or can at least get the last names right.

He'd still screw it up. And spend enough time trying to get the right first name that the next play would be over with before he noticed.

I can't speak for the Olsen boys, but I can for the Rallis family. Those kids are as tough of football players as they could possibly be. They are exactly the kind of kids that the U needs to be able to turn into a serious football school. Mike is obviously a hard worker and tough as nails, but I think Mike would even tell you that Nick might be the better football player (eventually). I remember seeing that kid play as a sophomore and being 170ish lbs and being the biggest hitter in the state (that I saw play).
