Special Teams - Need a good game vs. Nebraska

I just watched the NU game again...our special teams need to have a better week. Making the two field goals in the 2nd half was great, but besides that it was rough.

Punt returns - I don't trust Marcus Jones back there anymore. Letting them bounce for an additional 15 yards really hurts the momentum of the defensive stop. One time we had two guys deep both going after the punt...and then one bobbled it. Ugly. It wasn't windy right?

Punting - although Mortell's yardage was okay, none of the punts were pretty. Line drives, end over end. Fortunately they were so short they landed and then took fairly good bounces.

Let's return a kick this week for TD, or get a blocked punt or FG. I think we will need it.

I never want to see Marcus Jones back there ever again on a punt, even if he has someone else with them. I feel much better with Engel as the return man. Kickoffs are another story - I want him returning every single one of those.

I would point out that the wind was actually blowing pretty good at the game. In fact, the flags on top of the stadium were blowing one direction, while the flags on the goal posts were actually blowing the opposite. So I am guessing there was a little bit of swirl going on down on the field.

In regards to Mortell's punting, I actually think that he got hurt on yardage because the guys weren't letting the ball roll. I think there were two occasions (both inside the twenty) where the ST player grabbed the ball with at least a couple yards of roll left. Given my seats at the game, it was hard to tell if they were anticipating the ball to go backwards - but from my viewpoint, it looked like we left some field position out there. Once again, no need to get greedy, but just a small point.
