Southeastern Louisiana vs #23 Minnesota game thread

Nice team, problem is they probably only have 6-7 players... Tubby played the 2nd 'short team' for a long time.. Now the 'bigger team is in, and we'll be just fine.

They look like a solid well coached team, they drive and kick to the open shooters almost every possesion. Im looking forward to the second half when the boys step up the defensive intensity level.

Tubby's PUPS came thru tonight in a closer one than should have been, but here is what the PUPS learned....the PUPS are now rated, and EVERY team is going to give their best to knock 'em off. Check outcomes of Xavier and Gonzaga games, both highly rated and knocked off. (Both at their home courts, BTW). Gophers will move up to about 18 or 20 in next polls. Way to go GOPHERS!!!!!!!!!!!!! 11-0 now. Tubby's TEAM is awesome, and WE LOVE YOU PUPS!!!!!! GO GOPHERS!!!!!!

Quite a lackluster performance from my perspective. Still trying to figure out how we won. The defense in particular lacked intensity for long stretches. I can't recall anyone, Louisville included, scoring at the rim with such ease against the Goofs. A few opinions:

*Damian Johnson must touch the ball more. He is our best player, and needs to start being more assertive on the offensive end.
*12-man rotations do not work. Tubby's going to have to figure out who's in and who's out soon. It seems like guys are having difficulty getting into the flow of the game.

I think this was a team that was more athletic than the Gophers. But, the Gophers won with superior defense. If they play with this kind of defensive intensity the rest of the season, they have a chance to win every time they step on the court.

This had the makings of an upset game. First time the team had been ranked, just coming off of a huge win, young team that might be a little full of itself. Nice to get the win, a little humility and move on.

I keep reading posts about the rotation, too many playing....but last year Tubby did the same thing and it worked out pretty well...especially considering the lack of talent we had in our starting rotation with our seniors. I think we are much more talented and deep this year...and next year, look out.

This year, with the lack of execution and performance by Carter and Bostick (very dissapointing) and the emergence of Busch as a solid over achieving defender, I think we see a 10 man rotation.

Starters:

Nolan
Westbrook
JAS
Johnson
Iverson

with Hoffarber, Joseph, Sampson III, Williams and Busch coming off bench.

Carter and Bostick are going to need to show something in practice to get any serious playing time this year and it may be even harder next year with the Frosh High Flyers coming in at the wings. Just my opinion...

GinPhilly is right on. Watching the summer league games a few times - I was impressed with Bostic and Busch but thought that when the real season started Bostic would shine and Busch would only be a little used player. Of course the opposite has happened!
