per Souhan:

There is no way to predict how Coyle and his new department will perform, but there is reason to believe the university conducted an intelligent search and hired an excellent candidate.

The best moment of the news conference arrived not when Coyle choked up, or mentioned Goldy Gopher, but when he said he doesn’t use search firms to hire coaches.

For too long, the University of Minnesota has substituted bureaucracy for leadership. Coyle appears capable of taking full responsibility for his responsibilities. That would be a welcome change on the West Bank.

Go Gophers!!

I was told there would be a link....where's the link?

Does this guys even read what he writes? A search firm made it possible for the U to hire Coyle! No search firm, no Coyle! He then links search firms to bureaucracy and lack of leadership, not the ability to uncover discreet candidates. Even here, he had to push his agenda...

OK, so Souhan did not participate in the Kill pity party and that makes everything he writes from that day forward garbage.
Now I get it.

I'm glad the U hired someone who looks to like a perfect fit, but the search committee dog and pony show was complete bureaucracy bs. It's hard to believe they were unaware that Coyle was out there pleading to get hired for this position when this process began essentially wasting months of time and a good chunk of money to lock him in. The only logical reason to go through with this is to deflect much of the blame on the search committee if things happen to not work out. Bureaucracy 101.

There is something in this thread that made you to realize this?

Keep trolling.

Does anything athletics even happen on the "West Bank"?
