but you aren't helping. Do we really need all of this Badger swill? The week leading up to the game would have been timely.http://www.twincities.com/2016/11/26/charley-walters-brooks-bollinger-salutes-badgers-football-foundation/

Since he did, I was wondering about Wacker recruiting him as a freshman.

From the article:

"The Gophers, under coach Jim Wacker, also recruited Bollinger.

“Jim Zorn was the quarterback coach and I came down for camp and did well, and then when Mase (coach Glen Mason) came in, I think they already had a guy (Asad Abdul-Khaliq) and I never heard anything.”

Bollinger is 37 now. With the Badgers, his teams won the Paul Bunyan Axe rivalry game against Minnesota three times, losing once. “That was a huge game, a big deal for us,” Bollinger said. “Coach Alvarez and our offensive line coach Jim Huber always did a great job of giving the history and the tradition going all the way back to the (trophy) ‘Slab of Bacon.’ It’s a pretty special game. Those rivalries like that are what make college football great.”"

When did Wacker start recruiting him as a HS freshman? Didn't Mason start with Sauter, and Cockerham? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asad_Abdul-Khaliq

Jebus are we bitching about QB recruiting from forever ago now?

Not bitching at all. I am wondering if Bollinger was off with his facts? Maybe Wacker did recruit him as a HS freshman. Just thought it was odd. I liked AAK better anyway. I think he had more upside. Regarding Charlie's article, I don't know why he'd write this article now.

Easy. He's sucking-up to a guy who might help him with some info. Charley was going with the guy who is still working.

Who cares? This is almost as stupid as when people here were arguing about the outcome of a game from the 1800's.

To each there own. The first part is just random curiousity. The second is why give Bollinger this platform to promote Badger football. Charlie does stuff like this all of the time.

Random comment here. I saw Brooks working Coyle pretty hard at an event back in September, so maybe Bollinger is just looking out for his players. Maybe he would be open to sending players to Minnesota.

Maybe Charlie can write a little more about Jack Hanahan. I swear that family has photos of him or something.
