Many will not know what this means but for the long time posters that go back to Gopherhole since the 1990's they will know
who Bob39 and Oldtimer were before the split. Bob39 always said the measuring stick was the Jug and beating Michigan,
poo poo it all you want some People but winning the jug is a BIG DAMN deal. I know Oldtimer is smiling and fantastically happy that Jerry
Kill is the Gophers coach and that we didn't get stuck with that poser Hoke. That and he Oldtimer is stealing a kiss and a toast to the Gophers for todays
great win. Some day we will see him, his spirit, soon under the Neon sign in Pasadena and we will all have a big toast and party.
Hopefully these Gophers players never forget how hard, and intense they prepared and practiced this week, they can be difference makers. Enjoy the victory
savor it, then rest up get healthy and it is on to beating Northwestern at Homecoming who if people didn't notice beat Penn State in Happy Valley today.
Fill the seats people, and if you post here and have not been to TCF get your butt in a seat for the next game.
Go Gophers, welcome to Minnesota the "little brown Jug" and beat the Cats.

I know Oldtimer's only wish would be that news coverage of The Golden Gophers win would be as good as it was in The Peach Edition.
 


I miss them both, also. I used to email Oldtimer from time to time, and he loved the Peach Pages. No doubt he enjoyed
this game.
 


I got to meet Bob39 once. Truly classy guy.

Good point about dodging a bullet with Hoke. Brewster was a train wreck, but he never put a player in danger like Hoke did with Morris yesterday. He should get S-canned for that alone
 


Oldtimer was a classic sports reporter. He had articles, stories of Golden Gophers in the 1930's, 40's, and 50's. Knew the sportswriters and editors of the papers. Loved the Peach Section and the pan-o-ramic photo arrays, the Stop action shots. His only wish was for the Gophers would return to their glory and the press would embrace them.
 

bob39's posts were made even better with his spelling errors. Dandies. One of my favorite bob39isms was that he always said when Minnesota seals the win for the jug, go celebrate in the locker room and let the student manager go collect the jug. Classic.
