i am thinking it was better for us that michigan lost. michigan's (8-9) only game left is against us, so we can control our own destiny in regards to them. while wisconsin is 9-7 and has us & indiana left to play. one would think you can chalk up an indiana win for becky so at the very least they could end up 10-8 as could the gophers.

what do you think?

I was thinking the same thing. I decided it really didn't matter, we need to win our last two games. We can tack a loss on each if we take care of business. So in the end, I decided to just cheer against WI. How is that for rational, lol?

i hear ya. i was pretty torn watching the end of the becky-michigan game. isn't there a way they could have both lost?!

I think it was better for the Gophers if Wisconsin won.

Now Michigan can't get to 10 wins. I think Wisconsin was going to get to that point regardless.

If Michigan won, it was still possible for seven teams other than the Gophers to get to 10 wins. Now that's not the case. Today was helpful for the Gophers.

Better if Michigan had won, then if gophers win out they would be in at least fifth place.

With Scony winning they could tie them, beat them twice, and get bubbled out with Scony getting in.

It depends on who you think the Gophers have a better chance against this week...

Because of today's result, if the Gophers beat Michigan, they are likely out of the dance along with the 3 other BT teams who are already out. That leaves 7 BT teams with a chance to get in, and we'd have to be pathetic in the BTT game(s) to then not get an invite, as the conference's strength this year dictates 7 should get in.

Conversely, if Wisc. had lost, they'd probably have to lose to both us and Indiana to not make it in. Since that's not likely, and since had Mich won today, a loss of the Gophers to Michigan would have basically locked up an NIT bid for the Gophers (there won't be 8 BT teams in the Dance).

It was hard cheering for Becky today, but in the end the result was best for the Gophers, as it gives them a much higher chance of making the tourney. The Gophers simply need to end up at least 10-9 or 10-10 to get in the tourney, as long as they beat Mich.

I agree as well. A michigan loss was the better outcome. Let's just hope we win the last two and it doesn't matter.

I think Wisconsin winning was better for us because the best we can be is 2-0 vs. Wisconsin and 1-1 vs. Michigan. If we win out and assume that Wisconsin beats Indiana it would leave us both tied with at 10-8 and there would likely be another team tied at 10-8 (OSU or PSU). Because we would be 2-0 vs. Wisconsin we would end up winning the three way tie breaker giving us a higher seed for the BTT and a likely first round bye.

As far as NCAA chances, don't overthink it. The best way to get in is winning the next two games. If we finish 10-8 and with 4 or 5 seed in the Big Ten we can consider ourselves a lock.
