Some NDSU BB info and why they will never go to big conference.

For those supporters of NDSU, both of you, this article explains why schools like NDSU will never be able to afford to go to a B1G type conference:

1. Salaries of Coaches in the main programs, those being FB and Mens' BB, would never be affordable;
2. Capacity of the stadiums/arenas. Fargo Dome for football seats about 18,000, Bison Sports Arena for basketball seats about 6500 maximum.
3. The price of tickets would be unaffordable on a regular basis for people up here.
4. No one outside of the immediate Fargo/Moorhead area cares. There certainly is no National exposure on a regular basis, just an occasional blip on the radar.

You don't need to be in a "big" conference to win games. Would be fun to have a consistent non-conference rival so close.
 

More people would be interested if they joined a D-1 conference. The stadium problem could be fixed with an upgrade. Problem is it will cost millions and be a big headache for them.

Yeah because North Dakota certainly is hurting with money with all the oil and such...

Listen, ND has so frikking much money they could buy an NFL team and move it to Minot. Why not Minot. I can see it now...North Dakota Riggers. The state of North Dakota could build a $1 Billion Stadium anywhere and within 2 years the money would be back in the coffers because of the oil extraction tax.

they could actually do that, but they won't. The politicians in North Dakota are all bragging about what they have done to build a huge surplus in the State coffers.

But I warn you, do NOT drive out there, it is suicidal.
 


If they join the valley for hoops a long with the rabbits in brookings that could really help both programs
 


they have oil wells, they can get the money if the government wanted it bad enough.
 

Wish someone could provide the Bison with some competition.

Most of that money does not go to folks from ND.. just corporations who planted flags and workers from around the midwest and country who flock for temporary cash. Just the way it is... It certainly is better than nothing, but a good chunk doesn't end up in ND.

He's talking about the income from oil that goes to the state government. The government gets a percentage of the oil that comes out of the ground.

OH, it's not so bad, in fact it's kind of fun. You can drive around all day and play bumper cars without paying admission to an amusement park.
