It clearly was not Jerry Kill. Whoever it was, they clearly couldn't close the deal. 
Jerry Kill seems like a solid guy, and he'll probably be a solid hire. The problem is not him. It's that at this point in our history we needed more then solid. We needed a HR. And that's what Maturi promised. At worst, it seems we could have had Phil Fulmer or Randy Shannon. They may not have been home runs, but they would have been a lot closer then Jerry Kill. Whether this hire will turn out well remains to be seen. But from a PR and public enthusiasm standpoint, Maturi has failed.
