When only the Wisconsin and Iowa games top 40,000 at TCF over the next couple years--and only because of visiting fans--which athletic teams will the University decide to drop due to economics?

My guess is men's baseball, men's and women's golf, possibly rowing.

There is a reason men's baseball hasn't been getting a new stadium despite the fact that they could get funds raised in less than a year if they wanted to.
They don't want to do it until after the economy recovers, because baseball would be a very nice thing to cut.

Why would baseball be a very nice thing to cut? Dumb. Why do we have rowing teams? I would cut many other programs before baseball.

Because rowing teams cost a lot less to operate than a Baseball team perhaps?

I don't care if you are/were in the Air Force.

STFU. Stop being an ass.

It only takes one or two big wins for this fanbase to get excited. You're not even giving him a chance.

I have no idea, but I hope Tubby's not counting on that practice facility.

Women's Rowing is a relatively inexpensive team with a lot of athletes. It helps with Title IX.

To you, it's being an ass. To me, it's being realistic.

Jerry Kill is a terrible hire. Terrible. The chances Kill can be succesful at Minnesota are near zero. He will not be able to recruit, the 'fan base'--already mistrusful and shrinking--is already up in arms.

Think about it...you're on a site called "Gopherhole" filled with the few die-hard fans left in the state, and even in here there's a palpable sense of disappointment.

This is nothing more than the continuation of the destruction of Gopher football, which will have consequences, sooner than later.

Talk to me in two years, we'll see who's the ass.

See you in two years ass force. You'll have to change your screen name to avoid ridicule.

terrible hire, the only thing that makes it worse is trying to listen to these diehards defend it. Just STFU already, the program is an embarrassment

OK SGF lackey.

Considering NDSU, Iowa, Wis, and Nebraska come here next year, we should be fine. I think Kill will win right away.

There you have it. If you SUPPORT the hire, STFU. If you don't condemn the hire, STFU. Temper tantrums are now all that is allowed.

Yeah, 30,000 North Dakotans, Iowegians, Packerfans, and ranchers buying up tickets at TCF every year because it's easier and cheaper than going to a home game, that's the standard we should be happy to strive for here in Gopherland.

Pathetic.

I seriously would not be surprised if "We want Leach" break out at TCF next fall.

It's not about Kill the coach. Ruesse was absolutely correct, this program needed a jolt, and the Kill hiring is 180 degrees away from that. There isn't time to hope Kill can get them to 7-4 in few years. By then they won't be able to pay the mortgage on TCF, much less fund non revenue sports.

There is a certain level of consistent fan support that has maintained despite the tough recent seasons. You are not included in that group. Have a great day.

Way to start one of the dumbest threads ever.

Please explain why there is almost zero chance of being successful. Why will he not be able to recruit? He's been successful everywhere he's been. I'm not say it's a for sure thing he will have success here, but there's no basis for saying it's near zero.

Edit: Nevermind, don't even try to explain yourself. I read the rest of the thread and just realized you're just whining.

Baseball is going nowhere. If you would go to the games you would know they are building a new Siebert Field. Paul Molitor was at the 50 yard line accepting a donation and is head of fundraising.

Go Gophers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
