He's not going to get the job. The sooner you all realize that, the better off we will all be. So what will your reaction be when someone else is hired?

From reading the Leach thread, you would think several people would lead a march down to Bierman with pitchforks and torches ablaze?

So seriously...what will you do when Leach isn't hired? Are you going to be so pissed off you drop your tickets? Are you going to completely give up on the program?

Are you going to throw a hissy fit like a 4 year old who doesn't get their way?

I'm going to lead a march down to Bierman with pitchforks and torches ablaze. Not quite sure how to set a pitchfork ablaze yet, but I'll do it.

1.) Glad to know that me realizing something that hasn't happened yet will make you better off.

2.) I will support the new coach.

3.) Get over yourself.

I'm not necessarily a Leach fan, but I'm intrigued by him for sure.

If we wind up hiring a second-tier candidate (Sumlin, Jerry Kill, etc.) I'll wonder why we left a proven winner like Leach on the shelf.

That said, I want a classy program that wins so Leach isn't my first choice. I'd rather see Mullen, Hoke, or Calhoun get the job. But if they don't want it, how do you financially justify bringing in another Brewster?

I will support whomever is hired, hope they are on a 4 or 5 year deal at most in order to prove themselves, and then start waiting for the day Maturi is shown the door by President Kaler.

I will be keeping my season tix no matter what. I survived this season so almost anything will be an improvement there.

Let's wait and see what will happen, but the speculation is fun! I hope we get a hire the State of Minnesota can rally behind who can create a winning program.

If Leach goes somewhere else and has more success than our guy, said our guy will always be compared to him. It will also further prove Joel Maturi's ineptitude (as if it needed to be done.)

People will be pissed; but it'll really just be another blunder by the administration that can be tossed on the Everest-like heap of those made previously. We'll get over it.

Leach was my favorite from day one. That doesn't mean I am blind. You can tell he is a jerk, even from his direct quotes in his media-attempt to get an interview. Quite frankly, if I were Maturi I'd be using Leach's quotes to confirm whatever bad opinion was formed back at the Insight Bowl in '06. He would be a handfull, and that is obviously why they are avoiding him.

But, like many people, I believe he could duplicate the success he created at Texas Tech. THAT... is hard to pass up even if it does come with some admin battles with a loose cannon. It seems like the program needs some sort of major shake up. Something that not only has substance, but will create an earthquake with the fanbase. Check, and check. It is easy for me to say this but perhaps the U needs to take a leap of faith to really shake things up to break free of the 40 years of mediocre football results.

So what will I do when he ISN'T hired (I agree, he won't even get a chance to interview)... I will watch to see what he does when he finally does coach again and compare it against the results of our next coach. There is far too little REAL information out there right now to know anything, but my gut is telling me we are headed for some sort of vanilla ho-hum guy.

I'm not sure why we all dressed so nice for the march, but here we come!

I will be very dissapointed, try to get behind the next coach, and most likely spend the rest of my life wondering what might have been when 4 coaches from now we are still in the exact same situation while Leach has long ago been vindicated and brought some crappy program (Vandy?) to helmet school status.

If it's Mullen or Stoops, I'm happier.

If it's Calhoun or Hoke, I'll get over it.

If it's anyone else, I'd be disappointed.

Leach's interest alone may halp leverage another coach. If there is someone out there that wants to make a vertical move (Calhoun, Hoke, Sumlin, Golden, Kill, etc.) and they are under the impression that they are the best we can get, it really puts them in the driver's seat.

With Leach's proclamation of interest, those same coaches have to be tinking, "okay Paterno will be at PSU at least another year, Colorado has narrowed their list to 3 that don't include me, Miami wants someone higher profile than Shannon (Richt, etc.) and Michigan may not fire RichRod until January.

Suddenly, we're the only (semi) attractive girl who may be available for the prom and, forget about renting, Mike Leach already owns a tuxedo.

Mike Leach might just light a fire under some of the other guys being considered.

Just my opinion.

The guy hasn't even beat a team with a winning conference record in the MAC the last three years. I would be ok with it, but have about five people ahead of him.

he did beat UCONN which means the MAC is better than the Big East :)

Well I guess that depends on who we end up with. If it's a coach such as Hoke, Mullen, Sumlin or somebody else that is at least "somewhat" proven I'll happily reserve judgment. However, if it's the tight-ends coach of the Denver Broncos.......

I'd be happier with Golden, Mullen, Stoops, Hoke, Calhoun, or Bellotti.

I'd be pissed if they hired Sumlin or Fedora, though.

The fact that some group of people told me that Maturi is terrible. Leach is a no-win situation. If he comes here he has a job, but because Maturi hired him, he would be the worst pick ever. If he doesn't come here, and therefore Maturi didn't hire him, he would be out of a job, but still could be a great pick for some other school.

Oh the paradox.

What do we lose by supporting Leach? We realize it is long shot. Stop trying to "protect us" and join the mob.

It depends on who Joel hires. Pass up on a proven winner who plays an exciting brand of football, the majority of fans want, and graduates players, Joel better have a fat rabbit in the hat to prove he is compentent for his job.

Sounds like most people here will just give up their tickets. I just hope it doesn't turn them against the actual next coach unnecessarily.

yes because turning Texas Tech into a helmet school is exactly what he did.

Leach will not get any of the BCS job openings.
