man, so many emotions right now. frustrated, intrigued, cautiously pleased, shoulda-coulda-woulda, proud, what-if, want to see more of certain guys, etc, etc. thinking back to if we could have made one of those two missed field goals. is that the difference? does the game still play out the same way? if we get 7 on our first scoring drive instead of settling for 3 is that the difference? does the game still play out the same way? of course it is all hindsight and hypothetical, but it is what keeps you awake a little longer at night than you want to be.

proud of the effort and pride our state's boys showed....especially in the second half. want to say it cautiously, because who really knows at this point, but it at least feels like there may be some foundation for this group and coach kill to build upon this season.

just hope guys are able to reflect on the positives of this game and not let any coulda-woulda-shoulda creep into practice next week and into the next game. i think coach kill and co. can keep them focused and looking forward to the next task at hand.

P.S. how does the gray vs. shortell question play out going forward? i know max's poise (for the most part) as a true freshman, and being called into the game unexpectedly, certainly didn't/isn't going to make the decision any easier for the coaching staff. what do you guys think? is it still gray's job FULL-TIME without question due to his waiting and patience over the last couple seasons? does he just need some more time to get his feet under him and he will start to take off? or is shortell perhaps the answer (even as a true frosh) for the team and whatever gives them the best chance to win going forward wins out?

GO GOPHERS! SKI-U-MAH!

Cautious... yes, but oh so encouraged. Never have seen as many positive adjustments on defense as I seen today!

I agree with your comments. A lot a what-it's. maybe if we had made one of those FG's, but then USC plays a different game, too. Had a blast at the game. Gopher fans made a good showing. We filled up the better part of two sections. Weather was gorgeous, and the USC fans were very nice. Traffic wasn't bad, especially by L.A. Standards. I've had worse experiences with the metrodump.

I think Shortell is the better throwing QB. Still very inexperienced, and that INT was a frosh mistake. But if the game hasn't slowed down for Gray yet, it never will. Time for Kill to haves heart to heart with Marquies to say "if you wanna play on Sundays,it won't be at QB." we may lose another game or two due to Shortell's mistakes, but it might be worth it in the long run

A few gripes about our coaching/team:
1.way too many delay of games and TO's due to substitution problems. I thought that would be a thing of the past.
2.kudos to the defense for making adjustments, but htose quick passes ate us up all game. Coaches gotta figure something out there
3.Shortell was clearly rattled right before the INT. Kill should have either called a TO, or called a running play to go for the first down to get Shortell settled down
4.WTF on our kicking game? That 2nd FG was very makable. We better get that squared away pronto
5.running game was pretty anemic. I think the coaches went away from what worked early, and squandered too many plays running between the tackles. Kill must REALLY want to redshirt Cobb

still, I'll gladly take today's result over the clusterf… that was Brewster on the sidelines. There's a lot to build on, particularly on D.

P.S. Lane Kiffin is a classless schmuck. Too bad all his dickweed calls didn't bite him in the azz. Someday they will.

Same boat...I want to feel better than I do right now after coming back and making it a game but I still feel ill looking at the standings and seeing 0-1. Still have questions about our offense.

Best remedy will be winning in a week...but I feel like we'll get a real good grasp on this team during the Miami game.

I know for us fans this was a moral victory.. but I still can't get over how close we were. This isn't Vikings/Saints in the NFC Championship pain, but it honestly ranks up there.
