i saw the gopher basketball twitter sent a tweet out saying tonight is a gold out. meanwhile they failed to mention this at last game, nothing on the gophersports web site, nothing on the ticket for tonight. we're on national tv vs our biggest rival, a single tweet isn't going to have much of an impact.

First I've heard of it. I go straight from work to the game, and I put on my maroon today. Would be wearing gold if they put out a little more notice. That is pretty lame if it truly is a "gold out" night and that's all they did.

I saw that tweet too. It had to have been a typo. No school would promote a "gold out" with one tweet. However, if there were to be an athletic department that would do it, it would be ours.

I had already declared my own personal gold-out. I'm glad to see the U is finally seeing it my way.

Agreed

I have a personal "gold out" at 90% of the games I attend.

It's unfortunate that the fan base is horrible at following a "gold out" request (when provided enough notice). It's more unfortunate that we can't find a sponsor that will provide 14000 gold t-shirts when we schedule a "gold out."

Why have a gold out? It won't match the uniforms.

Why does the U insist on embarrassing themselves with this topic time after time?

It was on the "cheer sheet" they handed out to the student section at the Illinois game. Not sure why they didn't announce it to the rest of the crowd

I saw it posted on Facebook today. It seems like it might be a little more effective if they tried announcing it before the morning of the game.

Hand out a T-Shirt. It's the only way it will work.

It's a promotion made by students for students. The U athletic department had nothing to do with it. It's goal is basically to keep all red out of the student section.

Nope, that doesn't even work. I think they tried something like that several years ago, and found out all the old folks simply stuffed the shirts into their bags and wouldn't put them on.

Sigh...

We are who they thought we were.

Go Gophers!!

I simply don't understand why we choose white over gold jersey's at home games. We are the GOLDEN Gophers!

+1,000.

Golden f'n Gophers. Have some brand consistency. You don't see Michigan with white unis. Or KU with gold jerseys. Or Duke with maroon jerseys.

How is it that Gold isn't that standard color for all games?

Maroon doesn't stand out in person or on TV. Especially when playing Wisconsin or Nebraska...it just makes their crowd look bigger.

What schools fans run around in Gold or yellow? Georgia Tech & occasionally Michigan? Seems like any easy decision to me.

It is, just trying to get the word out to all the casual fans who wouldn't naturally think about it in an attempt to create a good atmosphere.

Has Tubby ever been asked (and given a clear answer) why not wear Gold more at home?
